Adventures of an 80 yr. old bicyclist grandmother
April 16, 2019 Story Swap
Lin Bruce is a late blooming, against-the-odds cross country cyclist, whose first transcontinental ride was in honor of her 60th birthday in 1999. Having ridden over 24,000 trip miles since then, Lin tells stories of her many adventures, highlighted by snatches of song. Bruce will be the featured teller at the free Story Swap, Tuesday, April 16th at 7 p.m. in the Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. While entertaining, she inspires her audiences to keep “engaging while aging.”
In the years since Bruce’s first cross-country trip, she has crossed the U.S. four times and bicycled 900 miles to attend her 50th high school reunion, among other adventures. Her adventures have been reported in The Lewiston Tribune and the Northfield News.
Bruce is a retired massage therapist, mother of four children, grandmother to eight, and wife of retired librarian turned yoga teacher. When she went from biking across town to biking across the country, she transformed her inner and outer sense of possibility, forever shifting the scope of her dreams.
After a short refreshment break, there is an open mic session for anyone to step up and share a short tale.
