February 20, 2018 “And Dat’s What I Yam: Stories About Identity”
Ingrid Nixon tells Stories About Identity
Spend an evening with world class storyteller Ingrid Nixon exploring what makes us who we are, when she presents, “And Dats What I Yam: Stories About Identity.”
Traveling around the world and around the country has given this former park ranger plenty of time to ponder life, and she means to share that perspective at the Story Swap, Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Ingrid says, “From time immemorial, great philosophers have pondered what makes us who we are. Stories from life and folklore are an engaging way to explore what shapes who we become and what we can do about it.”
Her stories on identity will entertain, touch and make the audience think. The program is geared toward adults and teens.
Ingrid is a world-traveling and award-winning storyteller. Exploration nail-biters, tall tales, traditional and personal stories—she tells them all on international expeditions, and at venues around the country, including the National Storytelling Festival. She holds a Masters degree in Storytelling from East Tennessee State University. After living in Alaska for many years working as a National Park Service ranger, she currently hails from the Olympic Peninsula.
After a short refreshment break, there is an open mic session for anyone to step up and share a short tale.
