The Home of Storytelling in Port Angeles and Clallam County

“Perhaps it is how we are made; perhaps words of truth reach us best through the heart, and stories and songs are the language of the heart”  (Stephen R. Lawhead)

“The anthropologists got it wrong when they named our species Homo sapiens (‘wise man’). …In reality, we are Pan narrans, the storytelling chimpanzee.” (Terry Pratchett)

“Stories have a power, a magic all their own. Consider the fact that the actions, thoughts and feelings of people who have no existence in reality can make you laugh, make you weep. That’s the art and that’s the magic.” (Denise Rossetti)

The Story People Of Clallam County is a guild dedicated to bringing all forms of live storytelling to the North Olympic Peninsula. Our guild includes both story listeners and story tellers, because you can’t have one without the other! You can find information on our website about our public events, about membership in the group, and about storytellers who are available to tell for your audience. Please browse our site, and contact us with any questions or communications. We love to connect with people about stories.

We revel in the power and magic of stories; in the truth about ourselves and about living that is embodied in stories. If you want to experience and share the wonder of stories — join us! We’d love to meet you.

Everyone has a story, and hearing stories helps us remember our own.  Our stories define our self, our family, and our community.  New stories help us grow and change. Come listen or share a story with us.

These world-class storytellers will make you laugh and tug at your heartstrings. Everyone — from preteens to grandparents and everybody in between — will find stories of love, comedy and inspiration.

About the festival and COVID-19: The Forest Storytelling Festival is normally held each fall in Port Angeles, WA, on the campus of Peninsula College. It’s an opportunity for tellers throughout the Pacific Northwest to gather for stories and friendship. Due to COVID-19, the Story People Board elected to hold the event virtually to protect our valued members of the storytelling community.

Be safe. Enjoy the stories and workshops at home. We will get together next year!
