Ingrid Nixon tells Stories About Families
“Family, Gotta Love ‘Em” A tongue-in-cheek evening of family stories in myth, folktales and every day life.
Ingrid’s storytelling is always enchanting. Last month she gave us a taste of tonight’s program with the entertaining story of family dynamics… competing with her sister to be the “perfect daughter” (at Studium Generale at Peninsula College). Family stories are everywhere, and Ingrid tells them with insight, pleasure, and a touch of mischief!
This month we get to hear more of her as she is the featured teller at the November story swap. Ingrid was a featured teller at the Forest Storytelling Festival in 2012; we can never get enough of her!
Ingrid will delight you with her stories from far-flung places, as well as personal stories closer to home. For over two decades, her work in expedition tourism has propelled her about the planet: from Antarctica to Greenland, Madagascar to Easter Island. While traveling, she shares stories such as the epic adventures of Antarctic explorers, like Sir Ernest Shackleton. She also gleans new stories from the people, places and the natural world. After living 20 years in Alaska, she recently returned to Washington where she works for the National Park Service heading up the interpretation and education programs at Mount Rainier. She has written, hosted and/or narrated numerous films about national parks and won several national awards for her work. Ingrid grew up in Port Angeles and we are pleased beyond belief to have her back!
