Leigh Thomson featured, Wed. Nov. 1, 2023
Correction! A previous post stated that Colleen Squier would be telling in November, but she will tell in February.
Growing up in Texas, Leigh Thompson’s stature and theater major label challenged her, but she navigated life with determination, humor, and academia, eventually earning a PhD in Social Psychology. Her theater background, combined with her teaching experiences in the executive classroom, cultivated a profound love for story-telling and story-crafting.
Her first professional step took her to the University of Washington, sparking a love affair with the Pacific Northwest. A memorable second date with her future husband, “Bob,” introduced her to road cycling, igniting a fiery passion within. A cross-country move to Illinois to assume a full, chaired professorship at a top-ten business school added another twist in Leigh’s journey: discovering a unique talent for time-trialing, known as cycling’s “Race of Truth”. From state to national and eventually Masters World time-trial championships, she soared to the pinnacle of her newfound passion. Overcoming a grievous crash in 2018, Leigh’s mustered the resilience to ride and race again. In recent years, she gracefully pivoted, relishing in the joy of riding alongside friends and tackling epic cycling challenges. Join Leigh on “story night” as she pedals through her cycling tale, filled with its peaks and valleys.
