Lindy MacLaine, Wed. Sept. 6, 2023
Story swaps resume at the Port Angeles library!
Lindy MacLaine will be the featured teller at the free story swap, at 7 p.m. in the Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. She will tell a personal story, a folk tale, and a tall tale.
Inculcated in the magic of stories at a very young age, Lindy MacLaine remembers many happy hours spent listening to her father read aloud. A colorful life of travel added to her appetite for a good yarn. Her favorites were fairy tales, folk tales, and mythology—anything requiring imagination and suspension of disbelief.
Theater studies deepened her joy in alternate realities—otherwise known as storytelling. In 2016 she became the published author of a middle-grade fantasy adventure series, “Piper Pan and Her Merry Band.” In 2020, exploring the oral storytelling tradition, she placed 3rd in the Toastmasters World Championship of Public Speaking.
Lindy lives happily with her husband and two cats in the Pacific Northwest—on a bit of prairie, encircled by ancient forests, crowned by magnificent mountains, cradled by the Pacific Ocean.
Open Mic
The story swap evening will begin with open mic storytelling. Audience members are welcome to share a story of up to 10 minutes length. Anyone interested in telling a story is strongly encouraged to develop it and practice it at the monthly Story Work session on Zoom — find more information on our Facebook page. Guidelines for storytellers can be found by clicking here.
