Hello Story Slam Enthusiasts,

March is already here and we are getting ready for our next show in Port Angeles. Please join us for our upcoming Story Slam on March 21, 2019 7 pm at Studio Bob, 118 E Front St (right above Sound Bikes and Kayaks). Admission is $10 for the general public; $8 for members of the Story People of Clallam County.

Theme: True Lies

Have you ever been through an experience that was so surreal that you couldn’t believe it was happening? Or told a friend “you’re never going to believe this…” Dare to tell us your truth, especially if it challenges the very idea of truth. We want to hear those unbelievable stories. We invite you to drop your name in the bag to share your five-minute true personal story on the theme – however you interpret it. If your name gets pulled, you get on stage to share. (There is more information on how story slams work, what the judges are looking for, etc. at www.clallamstorypeople.org.)

This time around we ask that all interested tellers please let us know in advance that you would like to tell. For those of you who came out last week, you saw how we scrambled with only a few tellers slated at the beginning. We feel it’s important for both the tellers and the audience to have the experience you come for. After all, we can’t host a storytelling event without storytellers. 

Storytellers’ workshop:

If you want coaching from a professional storyteller, sign up for Will Hornyak’s workshop Tell Stories Well on Wednesday, March 20th.

April Slam:

After this event, we will be back in Sequim with the theme “Blunders.” While you’re percolating your next story, one of the best ways to make sure these events continue is talking to your friends about it. Volunteer needed (get in free!)

Additionally, we are seeking one volunteer to help with the upcoming March show. Volunteering gets you free admission and does not preclude you from telling should your name be pulled. Just respond to this email; we will respond to confirm you as a volunteer.
