May 23, 2019 Port Angeles Story Slam ‘Dirt’
Please join us again on May 23rd, 2019, 7 pm at Studio Bob, 118 E. 8th St., Port Angeles, for an evening on the theme “Dirt.” Come hear true stories from your fellow community members’ lives. Did you ever get dirty? Find yourself mired in a sticky situation? Just had to dish out some dirt you unearthed? Been dirt poor? Scored something dirt cheap? We want to hear it! Tell us about your literal, or figurative, dirty experience.
We invite you to drop your name in the bag to share your five-minute true personal story on the theme – however you interpret it. If your name gets pulled, you get on stage to share. (There is more information on how story slams work, what the judges are looking for, etc. at www.clallamstorypeople.org.) Of course, we need an audience, and everyone is welcome to come to listen, there is no pressure to be a teller.
This will be our last slam leading up to our GRAND SLAM which will be back in Sequim June 20. Our grand slam is a curated event, featuring the top two tellers over the past 6 months. The only way to make it to the grand slam is to get up at one of our story slams.
Thinking about telling? Let us know! It’s extremely helpful for us to know who/how many intend to tell at our events. If you have been thinking about telling but would like a little more guidance, check out Matthew Dicks’ website/podcast with lots of stories, commentary and critique — specifically about telling at slams.
While you’re thinking about your next story to share, one of the best ways to make sure these events continue is talking to your friends about it. One more way you can stay in the loop is by liking the story slam Facebook page, you can find us at https://www.facebook.com/outloudstoryslam/ Please help spread the word if you know any curious listeners or tellers and we look forward to seeing all of you!
Tickets at the door, $10 ($8 for members of the Story People of Clallam County).
