Shayne Larango — professional storyteller — featured Sept. 4, 2024
The Wednesday, September 4, gathering of the Story People of Clallum County will feature professional storyteller Shayne Larango. Since taking the storytelling stage in 2015, this Texas-born Seanchaí has shocked and awed audiences from coast to coast and entertained audiences from communities as diverse as Ketchikan, Alaska, to Istanbul, Turkey.
Raised on the Texas traditional story, Shayne has expanded her repertoire to include personal narratives and new trad visionary tales, and is now expanding into stories of environmental and social justice restitution. She also presents workshops for both new and experienced storytellers, including The Value of Storytelling, Seeing Stories Through Dream Analysis, and Stories Behind Mainstream Fairy Tales and Mythology. Moving to the Kitsap Peninsula from Texas after being promoted to Grand Mother in 2021, she aspires to establish a Storytelling Mystery School and Wellness Center in Kitsap County.
This program will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, in the Carver Room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody Street. In addition to Shayne’s Showcase Stories, the meeting will also include a story swap and refreshments.
Upcoming events for the Story People of Clallum County include Erran Sharpe as the featured teller on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 and Haunted Tales on Tuesday, October 29 with internationally known Kim Weitkamp in the Sunset Lounge of Field Performance Hall followed by a workshop taught by Kim on Wednesday, October 30th. The public is invited and welcome to attend.
