Steve Blakeman, Personal stories and Fiction, May 3rd, 2023
Steve Blakeman will be the featured teller at the free story swap, Wednesday, May 3rd at 7 p.m. in the Carver room of the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St. Blakeman tells personal stories from his life, including growing up in Port Angeles, as well as fiction.
Blakeman says, “I have always had a proclivity to spin yarns, share poems, and find drama and humor in all of life’s little foibles.” When his mother, Port Angeles resident Pam Blakeman, became involved with the Story People of Clallam County, he started seeing story telling as something to be considered more artfully. He joined the story teller’s group in Portland, OR, where he lives. Blakeman then organized community story telling nights at his church, and shared stories of the Bible through their children’s program. He says, “Listening and sharing stories has become a great joy in my life and I’m excited to join you all in a night of telling!”
Open Mic
The story swap evening will begin with open mic storytelling. Audience members are welcome to share a story of up to 10 minutes length. Anyone interested in telling a story is strongly encouraged to develop it and practice it at the monthly Story Work session on Zoom — find more information on our Facebook page.
