Unusual date: Story Swap Nov. 27, 2018 features Lindy MacLaine
The Making of a Storyteller
Lindy MacLaine is a self-professed story-oholic. As a child, books offered the deep emotional connection she craved. Her father read aloud to the family every night before bed, establishing a lifelong beloved oral storytelling tradition. Discovery of the stage and the delights of physically bringing stories to life followed. She won her one and only trophy in 7th grade in the Storytelling category of Contest Speech.
Stories fed her heart and soul, but she didn’t know or believe she had stories of her own to tell.
At 40, Lindy began to learn the craft of writing fiction. She has published two middle-grade fantasy adventure books, The Curse of the Neverland and Becoming Piper Pan.
In 2016, Lindy joined Toastmasters in Sequim, where she has taken the step of learning to craft and deliver true-life stories. Placing first at the District level in the 2018 Toastmasters International Speech Contest, (her second trophy!) she competed in the World International Speech Semi-Finals. She has told at our Sequim Story Slam as well.
Unusual date — FOURTH Tuesday in November
This story swap has been moved to the fourth Tuesday because of a scheduling conflict with our usual third Tuesday meeting time. All other details remain the same.
After a short refreshment break, there is an open mic session for anyone to step up and share a short tale.
The story swap meets in the Carver Room of the Port Angeles library, starting at 7:00 pm. More details are available on our story swap page.
